The young couple behind the enterprise, Anis Ouazene and his wife, Nardjess, took over this family business a few years ago. Technical information

Quilting is the process of sewing two or more layers of fabric together to make a thicker padded material, usually to create a quilt or quilted garment. Typically, quilting is done with three layers: the top fabric or quilt top, batting or insulating material and backing material, but many different styles are adopted. The process of quilting uses a needle and thread to join two or more layers of material to make a quilt. The quilter's hand or sewing machine passes the needle and thread through all layers and then brings the needle back up. The process is repeated across the entire area where quilting is wanted. Quilting is done to create bed coverings, art quilt wall hangings, clothing, and a variety of textile products. Quilting can produce different effects depending on the chosen pattern s , such as a uniform effect across the material, or with dense quilting, can flatten one area so that another stands out. A person who works at quilting is termed a quilter.

Home Textiles

A quilt is a multi-layered textile, traditionally composed of three layers of fiber: a woven cloth top, a layer of batting or wadding, and a woven back, combined using the technique of quilting , the process of sewing the three layers together. The pattern of stitching can be the key decorative element if a single piece of fabric is used for the top of a quilt a "wholecloth quilt" , but in many cases the top is pieced from a patchwork of smaller fabric pieces; and the pattern and color of these pieces will be important to the design. In the twenty-first century, quilts are frequently displayed as non-utilitarian works of art [1] but historically quilts were often used as bedcovers; and this use persists today. They are lightweight and breathable, with very little to no filling, making it perfect during the spring and summer seasons.

They make quilts at home — for use both on beds and walls — just as they participate in all facets of the giant quilt industry — attending trade shows, following quilt celebrities on social media, adding to their fabric stashes, and buying new gadgets. Many quiltmakers turn to community as a time-tested reason to quilt, yet make individualistic quilts based on personal expression. Quiltmaking in the United States has long been characterized by cultural tensions: art, yet craft; old-fashioned, yet modern; domestically produced, yet dependent on industrialization; evoking thrift, yet rooted in abundance; avant-garde, yet conventional; community oriented, yet reflecting individual creativity. The painterly quality of his portrait, as well as the title and the composition itself, evoke American Regionalism, yet the hand-craftedness of the intricately pieced background situates the work within traditional quiltmaking. Quilts such as this one allow us to explore potent human motivations to create — novelty, progress, nostalgia, individualism, and collectivity. Debates about hierarchical categories tend not to result in definitive labels, as quilts exist at an unstable juncture between art, design, and craft.
